Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Conventional Machinist Position
Mastery of Conventional Machining: Strong ability to operate and adjust conventional machine tools, particularly the lathe, mill, and drill press.
Blueprint Reading: Exceptional ability to interpret complex technical drawings, including geometric and dimensional tolerances.
Metrology: Expertise in the use and calibration of precision measuring instruments (micrometer, vernier caliper).
Safety: In-depth knowledge of safety rules related to the use of machine tools and lifting equipment (overhead crane).
Rigor: Sense of organization and attention to detail to ensure maximum precision in machining.
Qualifications
Qualifications for the Conventional Machinist Position
Training: DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in Machining Techniques or other equivalent training/experience.
Experience: Essential experience with the lathe, mill, and drill press in conventional machining.
Certification: A professional certification or obtaining the Machinist Red Seal (an asset).
Physical Capabilities: Comfortable with handling loads and using lifting tools (overhead crane).
